We are Joy Sharon and Lauren Davis, creators of Rooted in Sounds.
We’re excited to have the opportunity to connect with you today.
We may not know each other personally yet, but please know that we care about your success at supporting your children to learn how to read and write effectively.
Let us explain why…
After leaving the classroom as Early Years teachers, disillusioned by the expectations of managing the pastoral, educational, academic, psychological, behavioural and social needs of up to 30 students whilst also planning, teaching and evaluating lessons, we both left the classroom feeling burnt out and overwhelmed by the competing requirements to meet the needs of so many young ones.
We both missed the children that we worked with and the difference that we were accustomed to making to our young charges. We pursued alternative opportunities, working to impact the lives of children but outside of the education system, whilst remaining in contact as friends. Lauren developing business and coaching skills through a successful tutoring business and Joy worked as a tutor. More and more children were being referred to Joy who were struggling to read. Due to a chance meeting whilst pursuing work with the owner of a bookshop to promote her tutoring services, Joy was presented with an opportunity to combine her skills from teaching and previous coaching and training experience to carve a new path to develop teachers in the skills of reading and writing where she has trained over 300 teachers in the Caribbean region where she is based.
Some five years later, the gap remains, with many students globally still leaving the education system being unable to read and write proficiently.
Joy and Lauren collectively bring their years of coaching, training and teaching experience and have created the Literacy Coaching business, Rooted in Sounds, a unique company that provides foundational literacy training to parents and educators globally as they teach children to read and write effectively. We recognise that many parents want to help their children but are unsure about current methods, Laying the Foundations to Reading and Writing Success was created to close the educational gap for parents to meet the needs of their children which cannot always be met in the traditional classroom.
Our products and services are used in many parts of the world and continue to grow in popularity and scale as we work towards creating greater awareness of the resources available that will equip you to become knowledgeable in the skills and practices that are necessary to provide your child with the confidence and enjoyment required to become experienced readers and writers.
We hope that the above resonates with you because, if we are a good fit to work together, we’d love nothing more than to be able to include you in our list of success stories that support parents to take back the control to ensure that each child will have the skills to learn to read and write effectively.
Here is what our current success stories say…

Yes absolutely! Laying the Foundations to Reading and Writing Success is a virtual event, meaning you can gain access from anywhere in the world, so long as you have a wi-fi connection.
The webinar is free because once you’ve attended, you may still want additional training and support to implement what we teach you with more success. If that’s the case, we’d love to have you as another one of our success stories. However, you don’t need to invest in any of our further training programmes to attend. We encourage you to implement everything we share with you as it will have an immediate impact on supporting your child’s developing educational needs.
If you’re unable to make the date, be sure to register anyway to keep informed about future dates and events that you will be able to attend.
